We went to Venturefest East Midlands 2015, this week! We’re sharing a series of blog posts with advice on how you can prepare for going to an exhibition with your company.

Giving to Receive

Are you thinking about showcasing your business at an exhibition, but are unsure on how to raise awareness of your stand? We’ve decided to post a series of tips that we’ve learned while planning for Venturefest East Midlands 2015.

When having your own stand at an exhibition, it’s all well-and-good turning up, but you need to be able to give the attendees something to take away with them. Whether it be some advice, new knowledge of a useful product, or a novelty bendy pencil: people who attend exhibitions expect you to give them something in return for their time. It also wouldn’t be a good use of time or money if you too, came away from the event with nothing.

First-Class Freebies

Some people suggest luring in visitors by giving them something that they want. For example a hot drink, a bottle of water or a slice of cake would be appreciated by people who are visiting your stand, as refreshments are usually expensive at these kinds of event. By drawing in attention through the needs of potential clients, you will be able to pitch your business and services to them while they are at your stand enjoying the freebies.

It is definitely a good idea to give away something, whether it’s a pen in return for their time, or a few stickers. People sometimes suggest having a ‘premium’ to give out to people who are serious leads — those who are willing to fill in registration forms, take leaflets or give you their contact details; and giving out a cheaper gift to others who visit the stand. You could even give the premium away in a ‘goodie bag’ style gift with all of the business literature you take to the event, such as leaflets on different aspects of your business and services.

A premium is a small gift that often relates to one of the company’s specific products, that you give away for free to potential clients who have shown some real interest in your brand and services to say thank you. Often these have more value than generic giveaway items, and can be more appreciated if found to be useful.

We decided to give out flyers for our Business Development services, and host a competition at Venturefest to give people the opportunity to win a free, first-rate technology consultancy session for business. This is a part of our Business Development service, and will be an invaluable way of knowing how technology can improve your businesses.

Showcasing Innovation

We went to showcase our Business Development services at the Venturefest East Midlands exhibition event on Tuesday the 14th of April 2015.

Venturefest is an event held to connect business innovators, investors, and entrepreneurs. The idea is that everyone who attends can benefit from networking opportunities, knowledge-sharing and the chance to showcase commitment to innovation and technology.
