A Month with Viva IT | Leighton

It’s been a month since I began working with Viva IT through my IT apprenticeship with 3AAA Leicester, and it has been such a great experience.

Having come straight from A-levels, I wasn’t sure of what to expect from a full-time job; I was expecting to be confused and was worried about fitting in with an already established team of people who had far more experience than myself. Luckily for me, this was not at all the case with Viva IT. The team were incredibly welcoming and understanding, offering support whenever it was needed and providing friendship as well as knowledge.

The Viva IT office has a very open and bright atmosphere, with warm colours and big windows that all feel very natural. It’s always nice to be able to look out at the scenery of the area, rather than a brick wall. There’s colour wherever you look, and it really helps to stop things from getting dull. Not only that, but the equipment is exceptional - everyone is provided with a 27-inch iMac that feels incredible to work on, along with a very comfy chair.

I’ve already learned so much from my time with the team at Viva IT, and I know that the trend will never stop. I’m consistently introduced to new types of software, frameworks and the like in a way that doesn’t feel overwhelming or hasty. I’m given enough time to wrap my head around them, and I’m always given detailed answers to my questions if I don’t understand something.

I’m really looking forward to the rest of my time here, as I feel the company is the best place I could have hoped to work at. A lot of the time it doesn’t even seem like work, since everybody is so friendly and the tasks are so interesting. I hope that in the near future I can become an even more valuable asset to the team, able to provide a high standard of development and support assistance from the training I receive.
